Your Child's Home Away from Home

A Home-Based Childcare Program Located in Fort Collins for Children Ages 6 Weeks to 6 Years Old

I give the children in my care opportunities to learn in a small, family-like setting with mixed age groups, where they can feel safe and loved and begin to build a positive self-image.

Hi, I’m Val!

I started providing licensed care for littles when I realized I could not work part-time & afford childcare for my own 7-month-old son. So, having focused my education toward a teaching degree, I was qualified to open Larimer County’s 1st Licensed Infant/Toddler Program in August of 1981 when my son was 11 months old. I feel that I found my niche at that time, allowing me to love, teach, and share giggles & hugs with so many great kids over the last 46 years.

They are the greatest daily joy in my life.

I maintain all required certifications to hold an Experienced Provider License in Larimer County. My program is inspected & approved yearly by Colorado Social Services without complaints.

Classes and certifications I maintain include: FEMA, CPR for all ages, First-Aid, Medication Administration, Standard Precautions, Shaken Baby, Safe Sleep, Immunizations, Mandated Reporter, Provider/Spouse Health Statements, plus 16 additional hours of professional development per year.

About My Program

I offer a home-based child care program located in Fort Collins, Colorado. I serve local families with children who are 6 weeks to 6 years old.

Your child will receive quality personalized and individualized care in a warm and loving home where learning kindness and respect for others is my highest priority.

Your child will have the opportunity to gain practice in language, fine motor, large motor, and self-help skills with plenty of exercise, outdoor time, and friendship creation through socialization and conflict resolution.

I offer a variety of enrichment classes with community educators. These classes include music, yoga, farmer visits, and Stretch-N-Grow.

My Teaching Philosophy

Working with children is something I’ve always wanted to do. I love the experiences I have with the children in my care. Watching them grow and excel in life is so important to me.

I attended 3 1/2 years of college toward a teaching degree, which helped me prepare my teaching style, which is focused on individual children and helping them to achieve their very best in every project or endeavor so they can be proud of their work.

In this way, they learn to be proud of their skills and have higher expectations of themselves as they transition into a larger school setting.

FAQs

Kind Words for Val’s House Daycare

  • “Over the last 13 years, Val has cared for all three of my children, and I truly can’t imagine a better person to have been part of their lives. Being at her daycare feels like going to Grandma’s house because it’s a place filled with love, warmth, and fun.

She goes above and beyond by bringing in special activities like yoga, music, and a farm animal program where the children get to meet and learn about different animals. My kids have made so many wonderful memories there.

What has meant the most to our family is the genuine love and care she has given each of my children. Val also has a wonderful pre-K program that helps prepare the kids with the foundational skills they need for kindergarten.

I will always appreciate the love, dedication, and care she has shown our family. She has become so much more than our daycare provider, she has become part of our family.

I wholeheartedly recommend Val to anyone looking for a loving, nurturing, and enriching place for their child.”

  • “We seriously couldn’t ask for a better daycare than Val’s House. Both of our kids have gone to her, and she’s been such a huge blessing to our family.

She makes every child feel safe, loved, and right at home. She loves them like they’re her own, but also has clear expectations and boundaries that help them grow. Our kids absolutely adore her, and we’ve watched them learn so many important skills while in her care.

We’re so grateful for everything she does and couldn’t recommend her more. If you’re lucky enough to have your child with Val, they’re in the best hands!”

  • “We have absolutely loved bringing our child to Val’s home daycare! The environment is so warm and safe and our child is excited to walk in the door each morning. Val does an amazing job of blending playtime, art, music, yoga and educational learning into her daily routine. The structure she provides is just exactly what we wanted for our child to thrive. If you are looking for a trustworthy, loving provider who will care for your child as their own, Val is that person!”
